Runnin’ down the long lonely highway
broke hungry dirty and cold
If I had only chosen the right way
I wouldn’t be a'wanderin' alone
I think back when I was a bright-eyed
child
With a future life painted in gold
I never would've pictured this ol' world
Standin' on this dusty old road
Time has come to screechin' halt
As the pain is on the rise
The road is getting colder
As it stretches out beyond my sight
I think back when I was a young man
Defending my rights to be free
I dreamed of a world to be conquered
From one sea to shining sea
Thought I had a tiger by the tail
And the strength to make him give in
But all I've got is this dusty ol' road
No one to take me in
No one to take me in
